WHAT WILL YOU FIND INSIDE OUR SURFBOARDS?

BIO-POLYURETHANE FOAM

We start all of our boards with sustainable polyurethane blanks that replace fossil-fuel-based inputs with renewable alternatives, like polyols from nutshells! We currently use Arctic Bio-Foam from our partners at Arctic Foam.

Why polyurethane? We love polyurethane for its density, allowing the board to sit lower in the water than expanded polystyrene. Polyurethane plays well with the choppy conditions at Northern CA breaks we call home.

BASALT FIBER

We laminate our boards with 100% basalt fiber — an alternative to fiberglass made entirely from volcanic rock. What is there to love about basalt fiber?

  • Higher strain-to-failure ratio than e-glass

  • Fewer emissions and toxic chemicals than fiberglass

  • Recyclable at the end of its lifecycle

  • It looks…well…just check out our photos

BIO-RESIN

We glass our boards with bio-epoxy resins that use plant-based materials in place of fossil-fuel-based petroleum. We currently use SuperSap — the most bio-based epoxy resin on the market from our partners at Entropy Resin.

Why epoxy? We like epoxy because the strength of the resin harmonizes perfectly with the strength of basalt fiber, creating a durable surfboard that will last.
